About Jeremy

I’m sitting here on a rainy day thinking of Friday nights gone by riding in the back of my dad’s Chev on the way to Mt Ruapehu for the weekend.

Looking back now, I realise how fortunate I was as a kid that my family had a holiday home on Railway Road in Ohakune.  We spent every spare weekend we could up at Turoa ski field, carving up lines in the snow.

I first set foot on a ski field at the age of 3 or 4, and the more time I spent up on the slopes of Ruapehu, the more addicted I became.

In the beginning, I was a skier, but not long after, I transitioned to snowboarding.

I spent the next 12 years of my life as a snow-frothing weekend warrior before moving to Ohakune just prior to my 18th birthday.

Then followed the season when I really fell in love with the mountains.  Spending so much time in the hills, exploring beyond the boundaries of the ski field, and really getting familiar with alpine environments equipped me with the experience I would call upon again in a few years’ time.

Before I knew it my early 20s were upon me and I’d suffered a major knee injury, putting a soul-crushing halt on my extreme sport activities.  A torn ACL, MCL and a snapped Patella – it was going to be a long road to recovery.

After a rough 2 years, my knee was finally starting to come right, only for my ACL to snap again during a paintball game!

On the more positive side, during this period, I met Kim, the love of my life and my best friend.  Through all of this Kim encouraged me to get out as often as possible.

We explored every corner of Auckland’s natural landscape and discovered that Auckland has some amazing hidden gems, you just need to make the effort!!

We eventually made the move to Nelson to buy a house and experience a different place.

Nelson is where I think we really found ourselves and discovered what we wanted out of life.  This is where my love for photography started to grow.

Having 3 national parks on our doorstep was pretty damn epic, and the perfect environment to learn photography!!  Such diversity in the Nelson region! Beaches, mountains, sea and snow… not to mention the sunshine!

Kahurangi National Park became our stomping grounds.  We were fully hooked, and for us photography went hand in hand with adventure.

One of my best memories was when we hiked from Flora carpark to Balloon hut when Cobb Road reopened after being closed due to storm damage.

We hiked through a winter wonderland that day – no one around, no other footprints through the snow, just us in a vast white landscape having a blast with our first mirrorless camera.

We have since moved on from our Nelson days and my favourite national park – the mighty Kahurangi (yes, I may be slightly biased!).

After spending 6 adventure-packed months travelling the North and South Islands in our little bus, we’re now back on the North Island enjoying the beaches up here and some stunning hikes.

The photography on this website is a small snippet of the thousands of shots we have collected on our travels around Aotearoa – our favourite country in the world and the place we’re lucky to call home.

I hope that our photography takes you on an epic visual journey through this beautiful land and that it inspires you to get out into nature more!

Peace…
